i have an excuse and you get the weekend in funfacts form in no particular order. yay!

1. As usual, I informed my mother of the camping trip on the day I had to leave. And as usual... it worked in my favor.
2. I fell asleep at three in the morning, woke up at seven, then woke up again at 9:20AM. Oops.
3. I should have realized that "Please get to Shawnee's at ten so we can leave at eleven" really means "Please get to Shawnee's at eleven so we can leave before one."
4. After all those ribs, burgers, steak and shish kabobs... I don't think I'm going to eat a piece of meat for a long, long, looooong time.
5. We got lost for about ten minutes and realized that we could have worked out how to get there from Shawnee's easily and in less time. Also... thank god for my GPS blessed BB. I was co-pilot but Buckley Rd. seems to be in a vortex.
6. The camp was pretty fun... it only took me 20 minutes to figure out how the tent worked and 20 more seconds to get the guys to build it.
7. "Here's a baseball bat, Ria, just in case any of these guys tries to get fresh."
8. I got stuck in the middle of three guys - all of them slept shirtless but in shorts. (One of them was hilarious and hot but I was still a little nervous.)
9. We played up to twenty games of Uno... and I lost them all.
10. I will never look at the downtown Chicago beaches the same way again. All the man-made modifications to the shore made the lake pretty flat. However, up in Zion the waves were huge and fierce and I loved it - it almost felt like the ocean.
11. 24ish days till the 'Hawks play again. (Blackhawks vs. Canucks on Oct. 20th. Ahahahaha, it's on.)
12. Due to spending each possible moment in the water, for some reason, my face and forearms were the only things that burned. Ouch. I never realized how much I smiled until it hurt to do so.
13. The friday we left was Blackhawks night at US Cellular Field for the Sox games. Mal had tickets. They were giving away mini Stanley Cups for the first 22,000 people that go in. Mal wanted me to go... choices choices choices.
14. I slept on the beach on Friday night after waking up at four in the morning... then all night on Saturday.
15. I have an enormous bruise on my back thanks to falling back on a jagged pointy rock. I didn't get cut only cause my sleeping bag was on the rock.
16. We ran out of water on Saturday and resorted to drinking all the Mike's.
17. Bonfires.
18. I was way too tired to really enjoy the Renaissance Faire. I woke up a bit more after eating brats, drinking water and Mike's enough to love Moonie's show. The joust was staged.
19. It was way too fuckin' hot.
20. I loved every moment of it.

If you're here, you've somehow managed to stumble across my blog. The word blog makes me think of snooty fashionistas in
New York writing about their later escapades in their pink Mercedes so we'll just call this the place were Ria (yours truly)
can spit out whatever the hell she wants with no responsibility or thought about who she might be offending.
Also, if you're reading this, you might want to know a few things. This is my fifth attempt at successfully keeping a record of my thoughts and doings
- after a few LiveJournals, a former Blog (if you peek around you might find it), and a few paper journals - so, I figure this might be the last chance
I'll give myself to write everyday - if not possible then every other day - about what's going on through my head.
N
o, you're not handcuffed to a chair. You may leave if you will. Go watch porn.
My basic goal with this is to try to flesh out the philosophies, memories, thoughts that make me - me.
Truthfully, I just want to write again. I miss it.

Nel mezzo del camin di nostra vita
mi ritrovai per una selva oscura
che la diritta via era smarrita.
Ahi quanto a dir qual era è cosa dura
esta selva selvaggia e aspra e forte,
che nel pensier rinuova la paura!
Tant 'e amara che poco è più morte;
ma per trattar del ben ch'i' vi trovai,
dirò del altre cose ch'i' v'ho scorte.
